Benefits of Wearing Sunglasses

Benefits of Wearing Sunglasses
You apply SPF-45 to shield your skin in the sun. But how about your naked eyes? In a 2012 study, less than half of 10,000 Americans polled identified the health benefits of shades, and 28 percent believe this simple and stylish accessory can protect your eyes from a number of problems caused by UV rays:

1. Skin Cancer
Up to 10 percent of all skin cancers are discovered on the eye lid.

2. Cataracts
The World Health Organization reports that, worldwide, around 800,000 people have lost their eye sight due to  cataracts--haziness in the lens of the eye triggered by UV exposure.

3. Macular Degeneration
Over time uv-light might play a part in damaging the macula lutea (an part of the eye with an incredible number of light-sensing cells, which permit us to see fine details clearly), possibly leading to blurriness and eyesight loss.

4. Pterygium
This abnormal development of tissue--also called surfer's eye--may progress slowly from either corner across the white part of the eye, possibly resulting in redness or disturbance of vision.

5. Photokeratitis
Essentially a sunburn of the eye, it is temporary (mending within 48 hours) but can be distressing, causing blurred vision, light sensitivity, along with the sensation

*Merely not the $5 pair available on the corner. Those can do you more harm than good. Our pupils dilate behind dark lenses, meaning low-cost protections will really let more damaging beams into your eyes than in case you weren't wearing any sunglasses Shop to get a pair that's designed to block 99 to 100-percent of UVA and UVB light.

I didn't know that up to 10% of cancer was found on the eyelid. I think that the eye is one of the most important parts of your body so making sure that you prepare and prevent as well as be proactive with your eye health is important so you can avoid potential diseases like cancer. I'll have to make sure that the sunglasses we use can also block UV rays so that can be avoided.
